Program summary:
Northside Piers is a mixed-use residential development sited along the East River in the Williamsburg neighborhood of Brooklyn. Its form mediates between the gritty, industrial streetscape of Greenpoint and Williamsburg and an emerging waterfront residential district. The development's inland block features a contextually-scaled six-story structure housing retail, parking and affordable residential units. Unique townhouses line the public access path to the water, and three glass-clad towers flank the water's edge. The towers' complex curtain wall systems sidestep the cliché of the "plain glass box" while capturing Manhattan views. Amenities include a sauna, fitness room, rooftop deck, parking and a children's playroom. A new park adjacent to the development includes shoreline paths and a 400-foot-long pier. Area: 1,050,000 GSF / 97,500 GSM
